Neville Goddard Quotes & Notes

In our last blog. we began to see how neuroscience, quantum physics, and theology are closely connected and complement each other. A few years ago, I came across the works of Neville Goddard, 1905-1972. He was born in Barbados and traveled with a British dance company. He arrived in New York as a dancer and worked in theater. He studied Hebrew, mysticism, metaphysics, the Bible, and the works of Willam Blake.

He became a speaker, author, and had a television broadcast in Los Angeles with 26 episodes. He and his wife, Cathrine, had one daughter. Reading his complete works helped me appreciate the psychological, spiritual, metaphysical, and theological perspective. It gave me a deeper understanding of man’s and woman’s relationship to each other as well as God’s relationship to humanity. Goddard taught how the Bible was not just a collection of old stories, but the greatest psychological drama taking place in the consciousness of wo/man.

I organized these quotes by subject matter to help the reader. This is by no means a substitute for his writings, and I encourage you to read these books to understand the full context and come to your own conclusions in your recovery journey.

Consciousness / Subconscious

Consciousness is the resurrecting power.
Claim it as your own, and you will suddenly transform your world.
We never find that which we want; we find only that which we are.
In short, you express and have only that which you are conscious of being or possessing.
The consciousness of a nation produces its leaders.
Righteousness = Consciousness of already being what you want to be. Awareness that you possess it all within you.
Matthew 6:24, “You cannot serve Two Masters”, meaning two opposing states of consciousness.
We can be to others only that which we are to ourselves.
The world is a magnified mirror, magnifying everything that you are conscious of being (that which you focus on).

Christ

Christ within you; that is God.
Greater is He that is IN you than He that is in the world.
“In His Name” has nothing to do with the name you pronounce from your lips.
Name means nature; so when you ask in the nature of things, results ever follow.
Christ = Awareness/ Consciousness in / to be Christ.
I AM = Christ
I AM = You / Me / I
Christ = Is God’s promise to man. Man has forgotten He is God.
Change beliefs to move into another state. State and beliefs must fuse.
- Matthew 4:4 – The mouth of God = the mind of man.
The birth of Christ is the awakening of the inner or second man. It is becoming conscious of mental activity within oneself.
Jesus = A symbol of the coming imagination of man.

Desire

Don’t be anxious to / for the results.
Not as an onlooker thinking of the end but as a partaker thinking from the end.
There is no stopping man that can think from the end.
Mentally rewrite (the disappointing news) and make it confirm to the news you wish you had received.
Man does not continue desiring that which he has already acquired.
Remove your attention from the problem; place your attention on the desire/ solution you wish to express.
Focus on the desire, NOT the problem

Esau Savior Jacob

Change your conception of yourself, and you will automatically change the nature of your desires.
Your world is defined by your conception of yourself plus your conception of others, which are not their conceptions of themselves.
How would you feel if you were that you desired to be?
Impress upon your consciousness the fact that you desire to see or hear. Feel the thrill of the desire. Then drop it completely. This is the mystic’s secret of sending words into expression of making the world flesh.
You form within yourself the world, the thing you want to see, hear; then you listen and tell it to yourself. I Samuel 3:9-10 “Speak Lord for they servant hearth.”
Obedience to desires voice; to desire, is to have it.
The experience of the end, wills the means.
Romans 4:17 calls things which are not seen as though they were/ are seen.
- Step 1- Definitely know what you desire.
- Step 2- Construct an event you believe you would encounter following the fulfillment of your desire.
- Step 3- (Alpha state of meditation) Relax, lay down, and meditate. Close your eyes with your attention focused on the action you intend to experience in your imagination. Mentally see (electric) while performing the action, being here and now in the actions/ event.
- Step 4- Feel the Gratitude in your heart. (magnetic)
- Step 5- Change the 4-D space of the meditation / desire into an 3-D experience in space.
Think FROM the end/ desired outcome, not OF the end.

Feelings

By feeling oneself to be the thing desired.
Merge yourself in the feeling(s).
Feel yourself to be Free!
The art of life is to sustain the feeling of the wish fulfilled and let things come to you not go after them or think, they flee away.
Habitual moods reveal the state with which you are fused.
Sensation / Emotion precedes manifestation.
Change in the feeling / Emotion is a change in destiny.
Mastery of self-control of your thoughts, and feelings is your highest achievement.
No matter what the problem is, no matter where it is, and no matter whom it is concerns you have no one to change but yourself.
Joshua 24:15 – Choose today whom you will serve. It is your freedom to choose the kind of mood (feeling/ emotion) is the secret of the subconscious.
To think and feel the mistakes of your past is to re-infect yourself.
By feeling your wish fulfilled and quietly relaxing into sleep, you cast yourself in a star role to be played on earth tomorrow. And while you sleep, you have rehearsed and instructed in your part.

Forgiveness

A very good practice before you enter into meditation is first to free every man from blame.
Forgiveness is the life of imagination; the art of living is the art of forgiving.
Every time one really forgives, that is every time one relives the event as it should have been lived—one is born again.
Freedom AND forgiveness are indissolubly linked.
Not to forgive is to be at war with ourselves. For we are freed according to our capacity to forgive.

God

The Bible is a great (the greatest) psychological drama taking place in the consciousness of man.
“The Kingdom of God is IN You.” Who is God, and where is God located? God is your awareness of being. Located where you are. I AM IN You. I AM God, God is me.
There is One God. The one God = Your Awareness.
God laid himself down within me to sleep; and as he slept, he dreamed a dream; he dreamed that he is I, and when he awakes I am he.
Jesus found it not strange to do the works of God/Source because he believed himself to be God.
Freedom for all = oneness of God.
The most important / difficult thing for man to really grasp is this: that the I AM-ness in himself is God. Psalm 46:1 – Be still and know I AM God. Revelation 1:8. 22:13 – I AM the Beginning and the End.

Gratitude

Give thanks for it to the point that you are grateful for having already received it. Then go about your way in peace.

Heaven

Heaven is within you.
Heaven = Your Subconscious
Heaven is not a location but a state of consciousness/
Heaven is where awareness and desire cross. (crossified)
Crossified = Crucified

Imagination

Christ = Imagination
Imagination is Christ IN Man.
Imagination is to forgive.
Inner speech mirrors imagination AND Imagination is Christ. Luke 17:21 – The Kingdom of heaven is IN you.
Identify yourself not with your senses but with your imagination.
Forgiveness is, in fact, experiencing in imagination the revised version of the day, experiencing in imagination what you wish you had experienced in the flesh.
The future must become the present in the imagination.
The mystic calls the change consciousness death. Death means not the destruction of imagination, but the dissolution of their union (inner and outer man).

Inner Speech / Mental Activity

Escape from the prison of your senses.
There can be no outer change until there is first inner change, as within so without.
Mental conversations create your reality.
What you resist you give attention and power to.
Make your inner conversation match your fulfilled desire.
What you desire to hear without you must hear within.
Inner speech reveals the state of consciousness in which you view the world.
Does your inner talking match what you would say audibly if you had achieved the goal?
An individual’s inner speech and actions attract the conditions of his / her life.
And where you are in your inner world is what you are in the outer world.
You put on the New Man / Woman whenever ideals AND inner speech match. In this way, alone can the new man be born.
Eph 4:22-24 – Put off the former conversations the old man, which is corrupt…put on the New Man, which is created in righteousness.
Inner speech calls things into existence.
Through controlled inner speech / talking from premises of fulfilled desire, it seems miracles are performed.
The future becomes the present AND reveals itself in our inner speech.
As a rule, man / woman is totally unaware of his / her inner speech / talking, and therefore, sees themselves not as the cause but the victim of circumstances.
To consciously create circumstances, man must consciously direct his inner speech matching “the still small voice” to his fulfilled desire.
Right inner speech is essential. It is the greatest of the arts. Right inner talking is the first step to becoming what you want to be.
It is not what you want that you attract; you attract what you believe to be true. And You attract what you FOCUS on.
Observation is a manifestation of the mental activity of

If there is pain (done to me or outside of me by others), I should look within myself for the cause.
I am ________ vs I am Not.
There is strong connection between the spoken voice and the mental voice.
- To think is to speak low.
- To speak is to think aloud.
- To change your world, first you must change your conception of it.
Use your divine-right wisely. Through your ability to think and feel, you have dominion over all creation.
Mental arguments create conflicts.
Positive mental conversations produce corresponding conversations and good tidings.
I shall be great. I shall be free is a confession that I am not great or free vs. I AM that. I am great, free, rich, loved, and abundant.
John 10:30 – I and my father are one.
John 14:12 – Do my works also.
The disciplined man / woman transforms his / her world by imagining and feeling only what is loving and good. “I have never felt better and have never had more.”
When truth is manifested, you have nothing to do to convince yourself.
Nothing befalls us that is not the nature of ourselves.
A person who directs malicious thought to another will be injured by its rebound.

Prayer

Prayers to be successful must be claimed rather than begged.
Prayer = An Illusion of sleep.
Prayer is not so much what you ask for, as how you prepare for its reception.
Mark 11:24 – Believe you have received them…
Prayer is about the reception (feeling), NOT the asking.
Prayer must be without effort.
You are that which you believe yourself to be.
Prayer = The art / act of believing what is denied by your senses.
Prayer is recognizing yourself to be that which you desire to be rather than begging God for that which you desire.
Millions of prayers are daily unanswered because man prays to a God who does not exist. [like they think]
To be conscious of being poor while praying for riches is to be rewarded with that which you are conscious of being namely, poor.
Prayers to be successful must be slimmed and appropriated. Assume the positive consciousness of the thing desired.
Quietly go within and shut the door behind you. Lose yourself in the desire; feel yourself to be one with it, remain in the feeling until you have absorbed the life and name by claiming and feeling yourself to be and to have that which you desire. I.e. make prayer like sexual intimacy.

Reaping and Sowing / Law of Attraction

Man attracts what he is.
Reaping and sowing: What you can wish and believe of another positive or negative, can be wished of you. You have no power to reject it if the one who desires it for you accepts it as true of you.
- Therefore, to give is to receive. You cannot give what you do not have, only what you believe
- So to believe a state as true of another not only awakens that state within the other, but it makes it alive within you. You are what you believe.
- As a man / woman thinks in his / her heart (believes subconsciously), so he / she is.

Salvation / Faith

There is no right or wrong to life, only to man.
Savior = Beloved Imagination
Salvation = is your consciousness within yourself.
Faith is a KNOWING, not a question. Man’s faith is measured by the confidence IN him / herself.

Satan

SATAN is a REACTOR. He never acts. He only reacts. When you are reactionary, are we not playing Satan’s part? Satan never ACTS or creates. He only reacts or recreates.

Senses

There is an imagined past and an imagined future. If reacting to the past is recreated into the present, so acting out our dreams or fancy can the future be brought into the present.
The mind is a magnet.
To spend is to waste.
To invest is to create purpose for profit.
Truth need not conform to external reality to which it relates.
We are called to deny the evidence of our senses and to imagine what we want to be true as though it is true.
In the divine economy, nothing is lost.
It is our own conceptions of ourselves, which frees us or constrains us.
Deny the evidence of your senses.

Sin

Sin = a man without imagination imprisoned by his senses.
Sin = A state in which there is no peace of mind.

Subconscious

Sleep is where conscious and subconsciousness are creatively joined, male and female become one flesh.
Sleep as you feel you are successful.
Every night, you should assume the feeling of being, having, and witnessing that which you seek to be possessed and manifested.
You are an eternal dreamer, dreaming of non-eternal things.
To assume the feeling of satisfaction is to call conditions into being which will mirror satisfaction.
Subconscious always accepts that which you FEEL to be true!
The subconscious is the womb of creation.
The subconscious resembles a beloved wife more than a servant.

Symbols

Mary is the awareness of being that ever remains a virgin, not a woman giving birth in some miraculous way to one called Jesus.
Isaac = Blind father consciousness
Esau = Hairy son; your present problem present objectified world / present moment.
Jacob = Smooth skinned, the solution is your desire subjective state. “Come close my son that I may feel you.” Feel = the nearness of it, immediate present, the thrill, the joy, the passion.
All the world is a play.

- Y= The Producer

Serpents = Symbol of the guardianship of wealth and treasure.
- Shedding of skin means growth and the shedding of resentment.
Savior = Is the solution to your problem.

Foreskin = Hiding the head of creation, the removing of beliefs.
Circumcision = Cutting of the veil of man’s egoic attachment to race, nation, family, gender, and culture.
Man is a slave to time.

Trinity = The 3 aspects of consciousness.
Slavery = Your former beliefs.
Thieves = Your false beliefs.
Your Skull = An intense vibration centered at the base of the skull awakens man / woman. Eph 5:14 – In his / her own skull is a completely sealed tomb.
- The vibrational sounds are intense at the base of the skull.
- Base of your spine = the golden liquid.
- Draw yourself out of one’s own skull.

- Rahab = A harlot (lust) gives to all men that which they ask of her; any desirable state without question, whether or not you are psychologically or mentally fit to do so.
- Rahab = Also a spy, your ability to travel secretly or psychologically to any place in space. Consciousness knows no frontier. No one can stop you dwelling psychologically at any point, or in any state in time or space.
- The 12 Disciples represent the 12 qualities of the mind which can be controlled and disciplined by man.
- The biblical story of the flood is the state in which man lives. Man is actually inundated in an ocean of liquid light in which countless numbers of light beings move…the world is an ocean of liquid light in countless states of crystallization.
