Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing

Wolf and SheepThe church is supposed to be the bride of Christ; however, in my opinion, I don’t think we are doing so well waiting for His return, or we may have wolves in sheep’s clothing in our dressing rooms.

Many people say they are “believers”, but God’s Word says, you will know they are mine by the fruit they produce in their lives – by their love – by what they do. (Matthew 7:15-20) As we say in recovery, “Believe behavior.” Lately, I haven’t seen a whole lot of this type of fruit among those in my circle of influence. Maybe you see people feeding the poor, taking care of widows, sharing the Gospel of Christ, extending grace, healing the sick, but I don’t. I see many people who claim to be believers but deny the power of the Holy Spirit in their life and in the lives of those around them.

It saddens me each time I hear something completely contrary to God’s Word come from the mouth of one who claims to be a “believer”. Oftentimes, I will see people use God’s Word to do the work of the enemy. People, decide this day whom you will serve! No one can serve two masters. If you do, you’ll end up loving one and hating the other.

“Believers” today are so easily influenced by worldly passions and desires. This should not be our goal. God made each of us individual and unique. He has a plan and purpose for EACH and EVERY one of His children, including YOU! He sees your utmost potential, and He so desperately wants you to use it, not waste it.

Not only that, many people say they are “believers,” but don’t believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. No one is willing to take a stand for God’s TRUTH! It’s like in the book of Revelation (3:16) where God speaks to the Church of Laodicea, “Because you are lukewarm – neither hot or cold – I am about to spit you out of my mouth!” Which are you? Are you on fire for Christ? Have you switched sides and are serving the enemy? Or are you just complacent and have given up hope?

We need to be strong and courageous and FIGHT for the TRUTH of God’s Word. We need to pick up our swords and go out onto the battlefield. For those of you who think this is a game and you can just be a spectator, you can’t. You have to choose a side. You can choose the winning side or the losing side. It’s your choice, but a choice must be made regardless. You either agree with God’s Word and stand on those truths – teach them to your children and your children’s children, bind it on your forehead – or you disagree and do the work of the enemy. It’s that simple.

I know many people who profess to believe in Jesus Christ; however, their actions don’t show it. In my opinion, they are actually doing the work of the enemy. Matthew 23 states some very powerful language about the Pharisees of Jesus’ day. In one translation, it even stated that after trying to convert others they, “…make them twice as much of a child of hell as they themselves are.” He refers to them as blind guides, dead bones, and snakes. I’m afraid this is what some of us have become. We have become like the Pharisees who “…strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.” We need to be more concerned about justice, mercy and faithfulness.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, because Matthew 7:13 continues to say, “…the gate is small and narrow…only a few will find it.” Not everyone who claims to be a “believer” will enter the Kingdom of God. Matthew 7:21-23 states that pretty clearly. He may tell some of us He never even knew us and send us away, because we are evildoers. As a church, we have become weak, ensnared and captivated by deceit and godlessness. We have become greedy, self-indulgent and, quite frankly, wicked. I believe if we turn our back on the truth of God’s Word and stop obeying it, God’s hand of blessing will also be removed.

But there is still hope and good news! In 2 Chronicles 7:14 it states, “If my people, who are called by name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.” Let’s turn our eyes back to the author and perfecter of our faith, who will forgive our sins and heal all our diseases, who satisfies our desires with good things so that our youth is renewed like the eagles.

Rise Up O Church! “If you profess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10) But for those of you who want to become Mighty Warriors, you MUST do more. You must LIVE OUT what you believe. You must be the hands and feet of Christ. Your behavior must match your words. You must believe the Bible is God’s Word and do your best to obey His commands. If you truly are a “believer,” you will desire to do these things AND you will be greatly blessed by doing them!

Rise Up O Church – this Generation NEEDS YOU!
