Over the years, I have adapted and created my own recovery statements, slogans, sayings or what is known as Cory-isms. An ism means to take action, a behavior, a practice, to take a side with, or an imitation of.  This can help take complex ideas and make them simple with only a few words.

Many clients have informed me that after their intensives they or their partner remind each other of statements I made during their therapeutic intensive. Now, that is not always a positive thing for many since my name has become a household swear word with colorful adjectives.

Here are some Cory-isms stated not only in my office but also in many recovery meetings and programs.  Feel free to use them or share them if they are helpful and make a list of your own that have changed your life.

  1. Do not believe anything Cory says.
