As our clients become healthier and creativity begins to improve, intuition improves significantly as well. I like to think of intuition as your gut instinct or the first inner voice you may ignore but know you should acknowledge. It is the part of yourself you may have overlooked for so long that you barely notice anymore. Some individuals refer to it as the Holy Spirit, God, Source, All, or Spirit.

The etymology of the word intuition is interesting. The word can mean: to look at, to consider, watch over. It has to do with spirituality as well as mental cognition.  It can also mean spiritual perception, as well as immediate cognition, it is the first insight you have about a situation.

At one time, you may have had a strong intuition; but over the years of self-betrayal, ignoring, or denying it; you no longer trust or recognize it.

Science is now showing us that not only does your brain have knowledge and information but so does your stomach or gut. In fact, depression is now more linked to gut health than brain health. However, your brain and your gut are in constant communication with one another.

Generally, addicts are out of balance. Not only is life out of balance, but their brain and gut are out of alignment and equilibrium. When my spine or body is out of alignment, my chiropractor calls that subluxation of the spine. When my spine is out of alignment, I can now tell almost immediately. Years ago, that was not the case. It took me time to become aware of what my body was tell me. In fact, I have learned my body will communicate with me most often faster than my brain will.

A simple example of this is when you are hungry. Your stomach hurts first. Then, your brain notices and tells you to get something to eat.

As our clients become healthier, they begin to notice this is also true about their feelings.  As I have written in previous blogs, the body and its organs all store certain emotions. As you become healthier, mind body awareness and intuition begin to improve.

The mind and the gut come into alignment with each other, as the subluxation corrects itself. Like anything, you must practice exercising this muscle of intuition for it to become stronger. At first, it may feel uncomfortable and scary.

Sometimes, your intuition will be right; and at other times, it may be off. You may not know if you made a wise or foolish choice until years later. It requires some risk, falling down and getting back up.  It takes God-fidence to overcome the fears of looking foolish by others. It takes time to break away from codependent behaviors of pleasing others. It takes tremendous self-love to begin put yourself first and fill up your own cup. It takes tremendous effort to let go people in your life who call you toxic or a naysayer.

Do you have the strength to trust your intuition?

At times, your intuition may feel much like swimming upstream, away from the water falling downstream. Everyone else, including your family and friends, may be on the party boat, going downstream. You see the outcome, but no one else is listening to you.

As you fill up your cup from the inside out, you know have more to give to others out of your abundance. Over time, you will find and attract others who vibrate at your same intuitive frequency. God will provide signs along with validation in the form of serendipity, answered prayers, and new opportunities.
